  • Faith the Paladin (Liz)
  • Lebron the Rogue (Ward)

BLACK OUT

You wake up in total blackness. An excruciating pain runs through your skull, and your stomach convulses in agony. You don’t know where you are, or how you ended up in a dark, cold place like this. You are alone. You lie prone on a stone bed covered in a threadbare, moldy sheet. Your clothing and items and weapons are nowhere to be found. You wear only a simple cloak, with bare feet. You are overcome with the stench of piss, bile, and….. the sickly sweet scent of cheap liquor. You feel a cold sweat break on your forehead. You blink the dried tears and sleep from your eyes, and what little light penetrates this horrible place flickers faintly from behind iron bars. You hear the muffled cries and coughs of others around you in the darkness, beyond your tiny cell. You probe your memory for what happened to end up in this place, but all you can remember is… glog. Lots of glog.

As you puke your guts out into a overflowing bucket next to the stone bed, an image from the night before flashes in your mind…

Faith has glimpses of herself in a tavern, fighting Yagra.

Lebron has a vision of himself swimming in an endless sea of trash and befriending a small girl ghost.

Thizz’s last memory is of challenging a she-orc to an arm wrestling competition.

JAIL

The party comes to consciousness in the city’s filthy stone jail. They have no memory of how they got here, where their other friends are, or what crime they have been accused. They just know they have a wicked hang over and none of their stuff.

Volo and Floon are there, in even worse shape than the party. They claim that someone always bails them out – Renaer, surely – but sometimes it takes a few days for him to get around to it.

Surveying the scene they see the uniforms of the City Watch on the guards. Thizz is imprisoned next to an anarchist gnome named Bohumil, who recognizes Thizz from somewhere & claims to know “the big man” at the Harper’s who would surely get them out…

Lebron is between two crazed, disheveled people who speak in tongues amongst themselves like animals.

Two guards enter the jail, dragging a familiar face into the cell next to Faith: Davil Starsong, Chief Operator of the Doom Raiders Zhentarim. He claims to be the scapegoat for a rogue element within the Zhents, and that he is committed to doing business neutrally and clearing his name. But up and comers in the Zhents have heard rumors of a large cache of gold, and whispers of a one armed wizard who provoke them into open war with the Xanathar’s Guild has brought the attention of the authorities.

The prisoners are let out for a breakfast of gruel. Davil explains further that the Zhents who kidnapped Floon & Renaer at the warehouse are the same rogue element.

PRISON GANG WAR

All of the prisoners are let out into the yard. Guards stand at guard towers at each corner of the high walls. Lebron scurries over to Davil in the yard and begins stabbing him with his psychic blade, while the weirdos who speak in tongues appear to help and try to drag Starsong away.

The party fends off their efforts best they can unarmed and unequipped. They see that blackness has come over Lebron’s eyes as he throws psychic blade across the yard, repeatedly stabbing Davil.

As one of the Xanathar thugs succumbs to Thizz & Faith’s pummeling, the other grapples Davil and pulls him straight into the latrine, submerging him head first in the pool of vile shit.

Struggle as they might, Davil sinks further into the muck and they are left just holding his shoe.

At this point the guards stop taking bets on the fight and release a prisoner is escaping. They are all escorted back to their cells.

LOCKDOWN

While in lockdown the players have some time to reflect on their situation.

Lebron searches his cell and comes up with a fork with two tines. After several attempt he gets his door open and frees his friends.

Bohumil the gnome manages to assemble a paper crane and says if only he could play it a sweet song on his dulcimer it would fly away with a message.

Faith summons her god, and a raven brings her… a random ass shiny key.

They focus their attention on the evidence room and manage to get the gnome through the small window, and most of their belongings back out. Bohumil also finds a viola and sing his paper crane out the window “Hope it doesn’t rain.”

A guard comes in and offers leniency for information on the whereabouts of the now missing prisoners. Faith volunteers and is brought in for questioning by Captain Staget.

ESCAPE

Everyone back in their cells, the group decides to make a run for it across the dark yard and take a dive into the latrine themselves to follow after Davil and his kidnapper. They all manage to make it across by sneaking, but Bohumil never jumps into the shit.

The party finds themselves in a sewer below…
